SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ -- (MARKET
WIRE) -- August 10, 2006 -- The latest to break
into the
VoIP market in the U.S., Globe7? has launched
with a unique advertising platform in the Internet
phone business.
The new
Globe7 3.0 soft phone offers users the opportunity
to earn free international and local minutes in
exchange for watching their favorite real-time video
feeds, such as movie trailers, music videos, news,
and sports. Meanwhile, each video comes branded
with a 30 or 60 second advertising spot that runs
at the beginning and end of the feed.
"Globe7? users earn free minutes just by watching
videos," explained Yogesh Patel, Vice-President
of Operations for Globe7?. "This creates a win-win
for both advertisers and users alike. Advertisers
have the ability to display their products or service
to a target market, while users get to watch videos
of their own choosing and get free phone time as
a result."
The initial video advertising push centers on tech
savvy 18 - 35 year olds, including international
students who are hungry for affordable ways to connect
back home.
In order to attract additional users in the United
States to its base of almost 18 million users,
Globe7? has developed a multi-faceted advertising
and marketing strategy. Campus bookstore promotions,
movie tie-ins, vehicles wrapped in Globe7 graphics
and outfitted with demonstration modules, and nationwide
concert sponsorship are just a few tenets in Globe7's?
attempts to capture the U.S. market.
"We are wrapping six Scion XBs vehicles with the
Globe7? message," said David Buchanan, CEO of te-nac-i-ty,
the Venice, CA-based advertising agency responsible
for the campaign. "We will be giving those vehicles
away to Globe7? users. The more videos are users
watch the more chances they have to win."
Buchanan noted the vehicles were the grand prize
in a six month long sweepstakes that would culminate
in a nationwide concert series, through its partnership
with LiveNation, the Live leading live event, venue
and digital distribution company, with over 150
venues, and almost 30,000 concerts and events to
their credit. Other prizes will include PDAs, computers,
digital music players, and VIP access to Live Nation
concerts.
Launched in July, the Globe7 3.0 phone is a free
downloadable soft phone that offers video downloading,
instant messaging and other features on the cutting
edge of the VoIP market. If they sign up for Globe7
3.0, VoIP users in the United States receive a real,
free U.S.-based telephone number, which allows them
to make and receive telephone calls from any computer,
any cell phone and any landline -- connecting to
anywhere in the world. The software is quick and
easy to download, with only 4 MB of data to transfer.
The video features of this Globe7? soft phone allow
its community of users to search for video and pull
images from a large archive provided by the Associated
Press. The technology also allows Globe7's? users
to upload and stream their own video, images and
presentations on 1 GB of secure space that is provided
to them for free.
The launch of Globe7 3.0 will be followed in the
next 60 days by the launch of a new USB phone/pda,
a Wi-Fi capable hard phone that connects to the
Internet through any Wi-Fi hotspot without a computer.
The Globe7? hard phone turns any laptop into an
easy-to-manage portable telephone, with all the
features of a personal digital assistant -- email,
tasks, calendar, contacts, and Internet capability.
Globe7? provides its VoIP technology in a private
label agreement with Lycos Phone and the company
may expand its private label business in the coming
months. In February 2006, Globe7? debuted its Globe7
model in Europe and already it has registered 18
million downloads from communities all over the
world.
Other features of the Globe7 3.0 include:

15,000 categories, customized and sent in real
time to members' desktop computer
- Content soon will be available in localized
languages such as Mandarin, Spanish and many

channels, such as the shopping channels and

on technology, price and the user experience
Globe7? is owned by Axill Europe,
